Tight as a drum comfort
There are many things in life that I find comforting. The sound of rain on iron roof. That 'plop' sound of a cork being popped from a wine bottle. The way your well-loved-well-worn jeans just fits, fat days/ skinny days. Undoing your button before your tight as a drum tum explodes post big meals. Or when the Paypass thingo shows "Approved" at the shops. All comforting. The ultimate comfort for me though comes from a roast dinner. And now there's a place just a few doors down from work that does a roast dinner with some stunning sides! Everyone loves a good side kick - think Pinky and the Brain. Side kicks makes it sometimes.

At Chicken and Pig though, they don't have to lean on their side kicks to make their meal. Great meat with excellent sides is just a happy coincidence. Like having a pretty face and dimples. Their main act is pretty speccy! Well cooked meat that is tender and tasty. This is the view on approach to this hole in a wall eatery - hello crackling slab.

The pricing is simple ($8.50 meat and salad roll - $12.50 Meat and Salad Box) and the service is simply special. This is their faces after I threatened them with the mob, if I did not get the best piece of crackling under the lamp - nay, under the sun.

Today I selected the brown rice salad and the broccoli and kale salad to go with a meat combo. The combo being chicken and pig - totally expected- and slow roasted lamb. A well cooked lamb is a foody dream. Poorly cooked lamb to me is like licking a musky arm pit - whoa, perhaps too strong of an imagery there... Seriously though at Chicken and Pig, the lamb that I have had there has always been foody dream. Everything about the meal keeps you eating beyond your capacity. The serve is big enough to share, but I'm not the sharing type, so everytime I end up with a Chicken and Pig waddle and a tight as a drum tum.

The concept of this place is a foody dream, comforting roast, simple pricing, and friendly service. Who needs comfort to be complicated?
