Pizza in a fairy garden
I asked a mate where's a good place to grab a bite to eat. "Oh, there's this place across from the gin place that does really great pizzas". Then his eyes kind of rolled into the back of head and you have to kind of shake him to get more details such as name, location and $?
Thus, how we came to discover Frog N Roses. We of course had to do a quick nip into Kangaroo Island Spirts prior to lunch. Gin a great pre-feed appetizer. All that botanical goodness... or did I get this wrong and it's in fact better for digestion.
Back to pizza and Frog N Roses, which is close to Kingscote. You will most likely drive past the gate if you are heading to Kingscote but if you are heading from Kingscote you can't miss the big wrought iron sign. I hate signs that speaks only to one direction of traffic.
Once you find the gate you'll drive into this massive yard full of trucks and you will question the decision to turn in. But once you're out of the car you'll be met with these welcoming signs.

Then there's a 'secret tunnel that takes you to a lovely garden nursery. Which is completely enchanting and totally makes you forget that you are in a truck yard.

The pizza menu is small but they are all simply devine. We decided on a chicken, meatlovers and ham and pineapple one for the kids. There is no licensing so you can't have any alcohol but with all the lush garden surrounds you could easily be intoxicated with the prettiness of it all.
We were warned that the wait could be 30 - 40 minutes which was fine by us as there was much to keep all of us occupied. There is a huge trampoline and a sandpit for the kids.

While for us inactive adults there's plenty of shady garden nooks to sit and relax in.
When the pizzas arrived the first things that struck us was the size of the pizzas. They had assured us that 2 pizzas would be plenty for us all. We didn't think they understood how we ate so we ordered 3. And with the pizza being only $18 each we saw no real harm in getting more than we need. Seriously, 2 would have been fine as finishing the 3 pizza took a lot of stomach stamina.
The second thing that struck our notice was the massive chunks of real ingredients on top. There's something really homey and wholesome about the way the pizzas presented.

The final thing worth raving about is how tasty whole pizza was, from the chunky topping through to the super crispy wholemeal base.
Next time you're heading to Kingscote or away, pop into Frog N Roses, they truly are awesome.
